This palm is known only from a single specimen collected at Tsaramain’Andro and the population is estimated to number less than ten mature individuals. This locality is just on the eastern boundary of the Makira protected area and is only just over one km² in extent. The local population is allowed to extract natural resources from the forest. The species is subject to a decline in habitat quality, and consequently in the number of individuals. This species has not been recorded again from any other locality since 2005 and a survey of the type locality in 2007 failed to find any plants, so it is possibly extinct.
|Date last seen:||2005|
