Has a very small extent of occurrence and area of occupancy (both <30 km²), and known only from two locations. But the species is considered secure at present as the population is entirely within protected areas and occurs at higher altitudes than firewood collectors are allowed to operate at. The population is extremely small - only 30 mature individuals are known currently which could qualify it as Critically Endangered, but this is probably an under-estimate and numbers are more likely to be higher but almost certainly less than 250, hence qualifying it as Endangered. This species could become more threatened very quickly if the impacts of people especially collection of wood were to increase.
