Range Description: This species is endemic to Mexico where it is known from several localities in the mountain ranges north of the balsas basin, from the Sierra de Chichinautzin, Morelos, to Temascaltepec-Real de Arriba. It has an elevational range of 1,850 to 2,600 m asl.

Population: This appears to be a naturally rare species. Although it is uncommon, it can still be found when directly looked for.

Habitat and Ecology [top]

Habitat and Ecology: This is an arboreal species that is found in pine-oak forests with epiphytic vegetation. It presumably does not persist in modified habitat. It is a viviparous species.

Major Threat(s): This species is threatened by forest fragmentation and loss, generally resulting from the conversion of land to agricultural use. Animals might be collected for the pet trade, although the impact of this collection on wild populations is unclear.
