Justification: Lithops hermetica is assessed as Vulnerable. The RAMAS® Red List version 2.0 software package was used to make this assessment. This species is known from only one plateau in a restricted diamond mining area, but there are probably at least two subpopulations. Range is restricted (extent of occurrence estimated as < 100 km²) and the population size is suspected to be < 2,000. The population is believed to currently be stable, however, the plant is highly sought after and collecting of live plants and seeds cannot be ruled out as a threat. |
