Justification:
A shrub endemic to the western slopes of the Ecuadorean Andes, where it is known from four subpopulations. Not known to occur in Ecuador's protected areas but expected in the Reserva Ecológica Cotacachi-Cayapas. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known.
