Justification:
A shrub endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from a single 1945 collection at the confluence of the Pailas and Negro rivers. Not known to occur inside Ecuador’s protected areas network, but could occur inside the Parque Nacional Sangay. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorean museums. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known.
