Justification: A shrub endemic to the eastern slopes of the Ecuadorean Andes. Known only from the type specimen, collected in 1939 around Puyo. The type locality is not in a protected area, but the species could potentially occur in lower elevation forest of the Parque Nacional Llanganates and the Parque Nacional Sangay. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorean museums. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known. |
