Justification:
A liana endemic to Ecuador's northern Andes. Known only from the 1979 type specimen, collected 12 km east of Maldonado, on the road to Tulcán. The type locality is not in a protected area, but additional subopulations could potentially occur in the nearby Reserva Ecológica El Angel and on the other side of the border with Colombia. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorean museums. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known.
