A treelet endemic to the western slopes of the Ecuadorean Andes, where it is known only from a 1908 L. Mille collection in Nanegal. Not confirmed in any protected area, but might be found in the Bosque Protector Maquipucuna or in the relatively large fragments of native forest in northwestern Pichincha province. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorean museums. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known.
