Justification: Piper disparipilum is endemic to Andean Ecuador. Discovered in 1920 and not seen since. The type locale is near the Reserva Ecológica Los Ilinizas, however, the species is not yet confirmed in any protected area. Habitat destruction is the only known threat. |
