Justification:
Piper bullatifolium is endemic to Ecuador, where it is known only from the type collection, recorded more than 100 years ago. Habitat destruction is the only known threat.

Range Description: Endemic to Ecuador, where it is known only from the type collection, recorded more than 100 years ago between San Pablo and Chillanes, Chimborazo province. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorean museums.
