Justification: A shrub endemic to the western slopes of the Ecuadorean Andes, where it is known only from the original 1945 collection west–northwest of Zaruma, in El Oro province. The population may have been lost to the region's severe alterations since. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorean museums, and the type population is not in a protected area. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known. |
