A terrestrial herb endemic to eastern Ecuador, where it has been collected at least 14 times, between 500 and 2000 m elevation. Not known to occur inside Ecuador’s protected areas network, but may be found in similar habitats inside the Parque Nacional Llanganates and the Parque Nacional Sangay. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known.
