Justification:
A shrub or treelet endemic to Ecuador's southeastern Andes. Known from two collections, the first at km 8 of the Yangana-Valladolid road, and the second 25 km east of Loja. Both populations are near the Parque Nacional Podocarpus, and additional populations are expected there. The principal threat is colonization due to small-scale mining.
