Justification:
A terrestrial herb endemic to Ecuador's southern Andes, and one of the largest plants in the family. Known from a single 1994 collection at km 41 of the Amaluza-Jimbura-Zumba road, in the Cordillera de las Lagunillas, near the border with Peru. May occur inside the Parque Nacional Podocarpus and in Peru. The principal threat are fires and deforestation.
