Justification:
A vine endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from the type, recorded in an unknown locale between 1890 and 1940 in the "interandine highlands". If the altitude and the reported province are correct on the type label (2800 m in Chimborazo), then the locale probably is near Riobamba. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorean museums. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known.
