Justification: A rare shrub endemic to Andean Ecuador, where it is known from four populations. Grows in the transition between dry and wet inter-Andean vegetation near Pululahua (probably inside the Reserva Geobotánica) and in the Río Paute and Río Vilcabamba valleys. Another record from 1987 in Bolívar province is from an unknown locale. May occur in the Bosque Protector Pichincha. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known. |
