Euphorbia beharensis var. beharensis
|Scientific Name:||Euphorbia beharensis Leandri var. beharensis|
|Red List Category & Criteria:||Vulnerable B1ab(iii) ver 3.1|
|Reviewer(s):||Rajeriarison, C., Labat, J.N., Lowry, P. & Randrianjohany, E. (Madagascar Plants RLA)|
Has an extent of occurrence of 24,253.2 km² and an area of occupancy of 9,251.28 km². Recorded from 14 localities and comprises four subpopulations (hence probably much fewer than ten locations). Threats to this taxon include habitat degradation, fire, habitat clearing for charcoal and collection for horticulture.
Like all the varieties of E. beharensi, it requires further taxonomic studies. The two main subpopulations are separated by a gap and the habitat is highly fragmented. The calculated EOO is at the fringe of VU, but considering the approximations with the localities, the taxon is given a precautionary rating of VU.
