Justification: A liana endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from a single collection, made at least 127 years ago on the western slopes of Pichincha volcano. Native forests in the area have been greatly reduced by the advance of agriculture, but additional subpopulations may be found in vegetation remnants. The species is also threatened by eruptions of the active volcano. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorian museums. |
