Justification: A shrub endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from three collections: on the peak of the Cordillera de Píllaro, on the Sígsig-Gualaquiza-Cordillera de Matanga road and in an unknown locale of Azuay. Not known to occur inside Ecuador’s protected areas network, but the Cordillera de Píllaro population may be protected by the Parque Nacional Llanganates. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species. |
