Justification: A terrestrial fern endemic to Ecuador. Known only from the type, collected in the 1960s in remnants of dry vegetation 51 km along the Panamericana highway, north of Loja. Possibly confined to this dry area in southern Ecuador; may also be found in dry valleys to the south and north of the Quebrada del León. Not known to occur inside Ecuador’s protected areas network. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorian museums. Apart from habitat destruction, no other threats are known. |
