Justification:
A terrestrial fern endemic to Ecuador, where it is widely distributed in the northwestern provinces. Its preferred habitat is along streams. Not confirmed to occur in Ecuador's protected areas network, but sure to occur inside the Los Ilinizas and Cotacachi-Cayapas protected areas. Habitat destruction, is the main threat.
