Justification:
A shrub endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from ten subpopulations covering a wide altitudinal and geographical range. Most subpopulations have been reported above 3,200 m, but one subpopulation has been found at 2,500 m near Nabón, in a dry inter-Andean valley. Reported inside the Parque Nacional Cajas and the Reserva Ecológica El Angel. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species.
