Justification:
An epiphytic bromeliad endemic to Ecuador. The type and a second collection were recorded on the Otavalo-Selva Alegre road in 1944. This locality is not protected inside Ecuador’s protected areas network. The principal threat is the conversion of forest to croplands. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorian museums. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species.

Range Description: Vriesea drewii is endemic to Ecuador. It is known only from one population in Imbabura province.
