Justification: A lithophytic or terrestrial bromeliad endemic to the Ecuadorian Andes. The largest subpopulations are near Ambato on the Vía Flores and on the Pelileo-Baños road where they cover large xerophytic areas. Not known to occur inside Ecuador’s protected areas network. The species is terrestrial, grows on rocks along creeks and is only threatened when those areas are burned. |
