Justification: An epiphytic bromeliad endemic to Ecuador, found only once in wet forests on the Lita-Alto Tambo road. Not known to occur in Ecuador’s protected areas network. The principal threat is deforestation produced by colonization and timber extraction. Additional populations may be discovered in the Reserva Ecológica Cotacachi-Cayapas. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorian museums. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species. |
