Justification: A terrestrial herb endemic to Ecuador, where it is known only from the 1980 type collection from Taisha. Not known to occur inside Ecuador’s protected areas network. Several additional subpopulations probably occur in eastern Morona-Santiago province, which has been poorly collected. The military presence in this region, including the land mines that have been laid, probably represent an effective protection for the species. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species. |
