Justification:
A terrestrial aroid endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from 12 subpopulations, widely distributed on the western slopes of the Andes. One of the subpopulations occurs inside the Reserva Etnica Awá; the species may also be found in the Reserva Ecológica Cotacachi-Cayapas and the Reserva Ecológica Los Ilinizas. In general, known subpopulations have few individuals. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species.
