Justification:
A terrestrial aroid endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from two subpopulations, one on each side of the Andes. The type was collected in 1904 in Cachabí-Alto Tambo, in coastal Esmeraldas province. Rediscovered in 1988 in Jatun Sacha private reserve, in Amazonian Napo province. Not confirmed inside Ecuador's protected areas network, but some populations may occur in the Reserva Ecológica Cotacachi-Cayapas. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorian museums. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species.
