Range Description: This species is endemic to southwestern Costa Rica where it it occurs in the Puntarenas province. It also oocurs across the border in the Chiriqui province of Panama.

Habitat and Ecology [top]

Habitat and Ecology: This species grows in mixed evergreen forests of the highlands. It occurs on somewhat acidic soils in the understorey of cloud forests.

Conservation Actions: This species is listed on Appendix II of the CITES Appendices. Fairly common in cultivation at botanical gardens as a result of introduction of plants in the early 1980s.
