Justification:
This species is only known from the degraded and very small forest along Mkulumuzi Gorge, near Tanga. Unlike Gulella spinosa and Gulella habibui it has not been located during surveys of other forests in the area, suggesting that it is endemic to the Amboni forest. Hence it’s listing as Vulnerable D2, although it may meet the criteria for Endangered B1+2c if the area of occupancy is under 500 km².
