Red List Category & Criteria: Endangered B1ab(i,ii,iii,iv,v)+2ab(i,ii,iii,iv,v) ver 3.1
Year Published: 2017
Date Assessed: 2016-03-15

Facilitator/Compiler(s): Ravololomanana, N.
Millettia hitsika has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 231 km2, within limit for Endangered status under the criterion B1, an area of occupancy (AOO) of 36 km2, which falls within the limits for Endangered status under the criterion B2 and is present in two locations. One subpopulation occurs outside of protected areas and the species experiences continuing decline due to annual wildfire and forest exploitation. We project that the ongoing loss of its habitat will induce a strong continuous decline in the number of subpopulations and mature individuals in the next 10 years as well as an important decline of its EOO and AOO. Hence it is assessed as Endangered.
