Threats [top]

Major Threat(s): Declines in population numbers have been reported, at least in Argentina, caused by logging and habitat loss through fires, grazing and replanting with exotic conifers: 85% of the Argentinean population occurs outside protected areas and is being actively exploited. Insect predation of the seed is also, apparently, affecting regeneration in the wild and in small plantations.
