| Population: | Declines in population numbers have been reported, at least in Argentina. |
| Habitat and Ecology: | A species of submontane woodland and scrub. |

| Major Threat(s): | Declines in population numbers have been reported, at least in Argentina, caused by logging and habitat loss through fires, grazing and replanting with exotic conifers: 85% of the Argentinean population occurs outside protected areas and is being actively exploited. Insect predation of the seed is also, apparently, affecting regeneration in the wild and in small plantations. |
