Justification:
Although this species is newly described and only known from the central Philippines, its depth range probably provides it protection and there are no known major threats. It is listed as Least Concern.

Geographic Range [top]

Range Description: The WoRMS database describes this recently described species as occurring in the West Pacific (Appeltans et al. 2011). Records from shell collectors show this species has been found throughout the central Philippines, from Cebu City south to Aliguay Islands (Poppe and Poppe 2011).  The EOO, AOO and number of locations exceed the thresholds for criteria B1 and B2.

Population: This species is locally abundant in the central Philippines (G. Poppe pers. comm. 2011).

Habitat and Ecology: This newly described species occurs at depths of between 180-300 m on mud and gravel (G. Poppe pers. comm. 2011).

Major Threat(s): There are no known major threats to this species, as it has a deeper distribution, there is no pollution in the area, and it is too small to be fished for food (G. Poppe pers. comm. 2011).
