Population:Paraliparis hystrix is a common species and is represented by an imbalance of females while males only occur in samples taken north of 55°N in May and October (Merrett 1983).

Habitat and Ecology [top]

Habitat and Ecology:Paraliparis hystrix occurs over the upper to mid slope and is a benthopelagic feeder. Females close to ovulation have been collected in all seasons and have an estimated mean fecundity of 83 eggs. Males of this species can reach 8.8 cm and females can reach 11.4 cm (Merrett 1983).
