Justification:
This species occurs in the Sekong and Sesan drainages (Mekong tributaries) in Viet Nam and Lao PDR, where it is known only known from one survey carried out in each country. It was found in fast flowing waters in rapids and waterfalls. This species is utilized as part of local subsistence fisheries. Anthropogenic modification of river morphology impacts this species by reducing or interrupting fast water flow. Logging, deforestation and agriculture also occurs in the area, with associated impacts on the aquatic environment expected. Based on how little is known about this species, it is assessed as Data Deficient.
