Range Description:This species occurs in the Patía and Mira River basins, in Colombia (Maldonado-Ocampo et al. 2005). Its type locality is Río Patía, Pacific slope of southwestern Colombia, at an elevation of 914 m asl (Fowler 1945).

Habitat and Ecology:This species inhabits rivers and creeks at high altitudes. It occurs in fast-flowing streams with rocks and gravel substrate. It is probably a herbivorous species (Maldonado-Ocampo et al. 2005).
