Botia dario is the most common of all Botia species and is also very widespread.  Although there are threats to its habitats and it is heavily harvested for ornamental trade, the species is hardy and is therefore assessed as Least Concern.  If impacts of harvest and threats become apparent, this species must be evaluated accordingly in future.

Range Description:Botia dario is distributed in the Ganga and Brahmaputra drainages in India, and Meghna basin in Bangladesh.
