Known for many years only from the type specimen (Fraser 1946), but recently found in a second location (R.W. Garrison 2006) within a protected area (Reserva Waorami, Ecuador) having a known extent of occurrence of 170 km².  Surveys for odonata in Colombia are very scarce, and the species is expected to be found in more locations. Research on distribution, biology and trends and confirmation of absence of threats needed.
