It is found in a very limited stretch of stream (about 1 km long) in the Chornaya drainage below the Chornaya Gorge, which, if water abstraction continues to intensify, may totally dry up in the summer time. The species is also susceptible to climate change as the severity of droughts is predicted to increase.

|Current Population Trend:||Unknown|
|Habitat and Ecology:||Habitat: |
Streams with still to moderately flowing clear water, on sand to silt bottom or in dense vegetation.
|Major Threat(s):||High levels of water abstraction, leaving very low levels of water in spring and summer. The abstraction rate is likely to increase so the river below Chornaya Gorge may end up dry. Currently the river only runs for about 1km below Chornaya Gorge in spring. Climate change also poses a threat to the species as the severity of droughts are predicted to increase.|
