This species is known only from Morioka in Iwate-ken and Tsukinoki in Miyagi-ken, Japan (Blakemore 2003, 2012, Blakemore et al. 2014). The area of occupancy (AOO) for this species is 8 km² and the extent of occurrence (EOO) is 3,384 km². Due to its small range, two locations and threat of urbanization, agricultural intensification and volcanic or radioactive fallout from Mt Iwate and the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. Consequently an inferred decline in its habitat quality and other likely direct threats, this species is listed as Endangered.

Use and Trade: There is no use/trade information for this species.

Threats [top]

Major Threat(s): The northernmost range in Morioka may be slightly threatened by proximity to Mt Iwate, an active volcano. This species in its southernmost range may be affected by Fukushima Daiichi reactor radioactive fallout from March, 2011. Throughout its range it may be somewhat threatened by urban expansion (e.g. Morioka city) and agricultural intensification (cultivation, synthetic fertilizers and toxic pesticides).

Conservation Actions [top]

Conservation Actions: No conservation actions are known to apply to this species more research into its ecology is required.
