This species is known from the lowland coastal forests of the states of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Paraná, and from northern Santa Catarina State, Brazil. It occurs at very low elevations.

This species is found in secondary and primary forest on leaves near the ground and in bogs. It breeds in rain pools on the ground. It is not known to occur in anthropogenic habitats.
