It is uncertain whether the distribution is less than 100 km², but there appears to be less than 50 individuals in the subpopulations and the population is declining in extent of occurence and area of occupancy.

This Seychelles endemic is found on the islands of Silhouette, Mahe and Praslin. It is extinct on La Digue (went extinct post 1980). On Mahe only found in the northwest, more surveys are needed.

The total population is 50 to 100 individuals. Over the last 30 years there has been a reduction on at least Mahe and Praslin, in both area of occupancy and density.
