Justification: This poorly known, southern African endemic catshark is recorded from the continental slopes of South Africa and Namibia. It is occasionally caught in deepsea exploratory trawls below 700 m, but has been recorded at depths of 344 to 1,009 m. Future expansion of deepwater fisheries could pose a threat to this species, however, at present much of its range is below the depth of current fishing activities and it is considered to be Least Concern. |
