Justification:
A little-known deepwater catshark recorded from 521 to 915 m on the insular slopes of the Caribbean. Several disjunct records from the Straits of Florida, Leeward Islands off Antigua and Anguilla, Netherlands Antilles, Colombia and Venezuela. Reaches 45.5 cm total length (TL) but nothing known of its biology. Not presently of any interest to fisheries. Further research is required to determine its exact distribution, biology and habitat.

Range Description: Western Central Atlantic where it is known from various localities in the Caribbean: Leeward Islands off Antigua and Anguilla, Netherlands Antilles, Straits of Florida, Colombia and Venezuela (Compagno in prep. b, Compagno et al. 2005).

Habitat and Ecology: Recorded from the insular slopes at depths of 521 to 915 m (Compagno et al. 2005). Virtually nothing known of its biology. Maximum size 45.5 cm total length (TL): males are adult at 42.8 cm TL, and females are adult at 39.5 to 45.5 cm TL (Compagno in prep. b).
