Justification:
A vine endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from one subpopulation, collected several times between 1994 and 1997 on Cerro Uritusinga, towards the Hacienda La Palma, southwest of Loja. Found in vegetation remnants, which are seriously threatened by wood extraction for charcoal production. May occur in the Parque Nacional Podocarpus. The species was assessed as Vulnerable in 1997 (Walter and Gillett 1998).
