Justification: A shrub endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from a single population recorded in 1980 in the Amazonian lowlands, close to Lorocachi on the Río Curaray. The site is very close to the Parque Nacional Yasuní, and the species is likely to occur inside the park. May also occur in the Peruvian Amazon; the Peru-Ecuador border is only 40 km downriver from Lorocachi. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorian museums. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species. |
