Most authorites accept that Trichosurus vulpecula includes T. arnhemensis and T. johnstonii. T. arnhemensis is considered to be a subspecies of T. vulpecula, while T. johnstonii is considered to be the same as T. vulpecula vulpecula - see Kerle et al. 1991. Australian Journal of Zoology 39: 313-331.
