Geographic Range
Range Description:
Aceros comatus is confined to the Sundaic lowlands of south Tenasserim, Myanmar, peninsular and south-west Thailand, Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia, Kalimantan and Sumatra, Indonesia and Brunei (apparently rare), where it is generally uncommon in semi-evergreen and evergreen forests to 1,675 m. Forest destruction in the Sundaic lowlands of Indonesia has been so extensive that all primary formations are expected to disappear by 2010, and the situation is little different in Thailand and Malaysia. However, the species's ability to persist at higher elevations, where forest destruction has been less severe, means that it is not immeadiately threatened. CITES Appendix II.
