Justification: This coastal species is widespread, although not abundant, from Northern Europe to Northwest Africa, including the Mediterranean. It is not considered to be in any immediate threat of over-exploitation. It is occasionally caught in trawls, which may be a reflection of it favouring rocky areas, where it can be caught in gill nets. There is no evidence of a decline in the population, and it is not subject to a targeted commercial fishery. |
